fuji x100

Here's a short video review from Shuttertastic.com highlighting a few features for Fuji's latest X100s camera. The X100s is a major upgrade from the popular X100. These fixed focal length rangefinder-like cameras cater to a niche audience, but dig a little deeper and the X100s packs some very useful features.

Aside from already being one of the best imaging cameras, the 910403 Fuji X100s built in ND Filter is enough to keep the aperture wide open at F/2.0 during mid day shoots, but another very interesting feature with the X100s is the ability to shoot high speed sync flash direct from the hot shoe. These two features combined may appeal to portrait photographers who want to work with a smaller more simple solution.

The internet is still buzzing with rave reviews on Fuji's Retro Stylish X100 fixed lens compact camera, but next in line is the new Fuji X100S Digital Camera. A new sensor thrown into the same styled body provides sharper images and even faster autofocus (to name a few).

Fuji X100S

Supposedly there is enough tweaks in the new Fuji X100S that original X100 owners will be thinking about going for the upgrade. They word is that one of the best cameras on the market just got better. The FUJIFILM X100S combines three high-performance Fujifilm components that together defy ordinary digital camera limitations, and gives photographers a uniquely-advanced professional digital camera experience. By using Fujifilm's X-Trans CMOS II Sensor, EXR Processor II and FUJINON 23mm F2 fixed lens, the X100S is capable of the world's fastest autofocus speeds of up to 0.08 seconds, and increases its image resolution by 25% and reduces noise by 30% over the first generation X100.

The new Fuji X100S should be shipping in a few days and orders are already available via B&H (click here).

While Sony is having a hard time keeping the Sony NEX7 camera available, Fuji will be releasing their latest X-Pro1 interchangeable lens camera very soon. This is definitely a camera to look in to if you're all about stills. It seems most of the marketing is based around Photography tapping in to that rangefinder market. There's not a lot of samples about it's video quality. Even still, I'm sure this camera will disrupt a bit of business from the M43 crowd along with Sony's ILC audience who wanted a nice small high quality interchangeable lens camera. With the new adapter for Leica lenses, it may even sway some of that high end market from Leica's very expensive bodies..

Prices are sketchy online, and there is currently no price listed over at the product page at B&H (here)

Quick post. I'll have a more interesting one in a few minutes. You know what this is, and it's a tough cookie to find (especially online no sales tax). Usually sells out in the first day blogs start posting it back in stock. Find it following the link (Click Here).

For those who have been eyeballing the Fuji X10. Last time I posted about the X10 in stock, it sold out in the first hour. You still won't find one available at standard MSRP with Amazon and over on eBay they'll have auctions running as high as $1300 dollars (here). Best bet is the ones in stock right now at B&H before it's gone. (Click Here).

[Update: Sold out again in a few hours]

I got a pretty sweet deal on this constantly sold out Canon S100. If you find a few available, normally they've marked it up by another $100 dollars. The deal I found happened to come with a bundle for the same price as the basic camera (no tax and free shipping). There were about 7 available at the time, but shortly after posting it on my blog (here), the deal ended.

The Fuji X10 is another hard camera to find for regular price. I was lucky, but shortly after posting this X10 article (here), it's currently on backorder. I'll be testing out the new Fuji X10 and Canon S100 to see which one fits best to replace my GF2.

The X10 is bit larger, very easy to navigate (feels DSLR-ish) and has a better aperture through it's range over the S100. The Canon S100 is smaller, fits in your pocket, and has some fun stylish effects with images. It's sporting Canon's latest Digic 5 processor and is said to be fairly good with controlling noise in low light. The HD video might even be better quality from what I can tell so far. More to come...

[Update] Looks like they sold out sooner than I thought. I at least gave it one day, but all it takes is a few hours. Hate to rub it in, but mine just showed up from UPS..

The Fuji X100 has been a very successful camera, and they've followed up with a smaller version called the X10. The X10 is all the buzz right now for the Fuji lineup. If you haven't been keeping up on the X10, this new 2/3" sensor sized 12MP camera has a zoom range from 24-112mm F/2.0-F/2.8. That's pretty amazing specs. To compare the latest Canon S100 (which I just bought) has a 1/1.7" sensor size and zoom range from 24-120mm F/2.0-F/5.9. The camera also offers a hot shoe if you want to expand with a larger external flash.

So far B&H shows out of stock, Amazon is still accepting pre-orders, and eBay has some as high as double the asking price. I've seen one auction going for $200 dollars above MSRP (and people have paid that price). Poking around the web a bit more, I happened to see BestBuy Online showing the X10 in stock in their warehouse and ships in 1 day. Doesn't say it's available in stores, but the warehouse shows ready to ship. Might be worth looking in to if you've been eyeballing this camera. Find it following the link (click here)
