Tekkeon Battery on 900 LED Video Light

I use the Tekkeon batteries to power up my 600 or 900 LED Video light panels. Great for remote location shoots where an outlet isn't available, cheaper than a Sony V-Mount battery, but Tekkeon batteries can still be a little expensive (article here).

TRIX writes in and shares an optional (and cheaper) solution for a DIY battery pack using the ATC Power Bank Black Mobile Pack (found here) to power up a couple of the new style 600 LED video lights [Thanks TRIX].

These Li-Polymer battery packs can switch output voltage from DC 12V/16V//19V 60W, USB 5V/1200mAh. For either the 600 or 900 LED light, you can use the 12V or 16V option. From the tests TRIX states the 600 LED Video light panels can run for a little more than an hour at Full Power. Perfect for quick remote location shoots and at half the price of my Tekkeon batteries.

The ATC Power Bank Mobile Pack comes with a few different adapters, but does not have the correct cable to work directly with the LED Video lights. You'll need to get a separate cable that has a 2.5mm ID & 5.5mm OD barrel plug on each end (one for LED and one for ATC pack). Just posted up an article about using three LED Video lights on a single shoe adapter, and Herb shares a link to an LED-5080 video light [Thanks Herb]. This dimmable light uses a few high power LED bulbs, comes with barndoors, built in diffuser and tungsten filter, powered on Sony Batteries (comes with battery and charger), and has optional DC input for external power source. This light has been around for a few months, and i'm curious if anyone has experience with this light? If so, comment below. You can find the LED-5080 all over on eBay (click here)

Looking to travel light, but still have a large battery powered LED light source? In this episode of GearBox from TheC47.com, Jem is planning to use the Triple Shoe Adapter I posted about (seen here) to create a large light source with a few high power Switronix BOLT LED lights (review found here). Those BOLT LED lights are great, but they are pretty expensive. Keep in mind, you could use this same idea with other lights.

To create more or less contrast, he could switch out to different sized umbrellas or use a shoot through, or even adjust the angle of each light. When not in use, this lighting kit idea should break down to several small parts. There are two different Triple Adapters I talked about, and both types can be found for just under $14 bucks via eBay (Click Here).

Here's a couple of unusual lights for video. The first is this new CN-126B Flat LED Ring Light. The design allows you to mount over your shotgun microphone, or on the camera hotshoe with the included mount.

Mounting the LED light over a shotgun microphone is pretty much a copy of the RotoLight (as seen here). The Rotolight resembles those uber cheap UFO LED Camping Lights (as seen here).

The next light is the Super Power T6A Video Light that uses 6 high powered LED Bulbs. Runs on Sony batteries, plastic diffuser, tungsten filter, dimmable, with battery status indicator. Quite a few of these were sold in the last month, but I can't seem to find any reviews just yet.

This final most unusual light is this 250W Wireless Strobe (a.k.a flash) + LED Video light. Available in four different colors, comes in single or (2) piece kit that can be used as a continuous LED video light, or as a 250w flash for still photos, and tungsten or other creative color filters can be placed on the barn doors. Curious if the LED lights work simultaneously with the Strobe to work as modeling lights (for positioning your flashes). Place with an umbrella and you can fire the flash wirelessly with the included remotes. Comes with two flash head units, two wireless triggers, two Sony type batteries (AA battery adapter), and carrying case.

Just received a couple of these Triple Shoe Adapter Brackets. I guess you can also use it to mount three other hot shoe accessories like a microphone, portable recorder, etc. It's all metal, pretty heavy duty, and should come in handy for me to mount three flashes or three LED video lights to make a larger light source. These little triple cold shoe adapters mount to standard 1/4-20 threaded studs to be used on most light stands. Normally used for photography to hold three flashes, for Video you can also use them to mount three on-camera type LED video lights to make one larger light source. Great accessory for the traveler who can't pack up those larger LED light panels. The nice center clip of these brackets is used to hold an umbrella or other light diffuser, modifier, or maybe to craft up a gel holder. Just posted an article a few minutes ago about the new version ePhoto 600 LED Video light panels now selling on Amazon, but here's another sale on the larger 900 LED Video lights. If you guys find somewhere cheaper on these specific lights, post a comment.

Good news and slightly not so good news for those seeking the new CN600SA LED Video Light Panels and need to have it shipped pretty quick. Previously the new version of these light panels were only available from overseas with long shipping times via eBay. For more information about these lights, check out an earlier review (found here).

Today they are available through Amazon (seen here), ships quick from USA, and currently at a sale price that's cheaper than the overseas seller.
