Today there's a deal on the Panasonic 45-150mm lens, which is an equivalent of a 90-300mm lens if you're looking for extra that reach and offers built in Image Stabilization. This a micro four thirds lens that should work with the active mount of the newly announced BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera as well. Today this long zoom lens is on sale for just $199 via Amazon (click here).

BlackMagic Design has announced an amazing Production 4K Camera, and it's still based on the same form factor as the BlackMagic Deisgn 2.5K Cinema Camera. For those who may be thinking about shooting with these cameras, one of the first things to consider is an external battery option. Although the camera can operate with the internal battery, it is good practice to work an external solution. When the external battery runs low, you can quickly swap the external battery without powering down the camera.
One of the popular solutions so far for the BlackMagic Cinema Cameras is the Powerbase-70 from Switronix. The Powerbase-70 Battery Pack (w/ optional Charger) should provide you with an additional 4-6 hours of runtime, and via an optional XP power regulation cable, the battery can also power two additional 12V and lower-voltage devices at the same time as powering the camera.
The Switronix Powerbase can be mounted on a basic 1/4-20 accessory thread with a built-in quick release system for fast swaps. The battery is basically a V-mount that will also work with many popular LED Panels, and other accessories that run off of V-Mount solutions, so for some this may be worth the value. Check out the Switronix Powerbase-70 via B&H (click here).

To mount the Switronix Powerbase-70 on the rear of the rig for use as a counterweight, i've added this cheese plate that can be reconfigured to sit horizontally or vertically. I picked up this 15mm Clamp Cheese Plate via eBay (found here).
I stopped by the Pivothead Booth to check out the 1080HD Video Recording Sunglasses. Video quality is decent, and for a POV camera it's definitely much more convenient than carrying around a camera that requires some type of head strap or body mount, especially If you tend to carry a pair of sunglasses around all the time (like I do). Video recording glasses have been out for a while, but mostly in a 720p resolution.
The Pivothead products offer 1080@30fps, 720@30fps, and 720@60fps. The internal memory and internal rechargeable battery offers more than an hour of recording time. Styling looked pretty decent compared to cheaper ones i've seen around. The build quality felt like a pair of quality sunglasses and the Durango Smoke version looked fairly similar to my pair of Oakley Gascans. The Pivothead sunglass lenses also come with polarized lenses. Here's another fun PivotHead video from GearAddix.com.

Product Description: The P&C GearBox was designed to provide mounting options for the growing number of accessories needed for todays small video camera shooter. The new GearBox can support a full size Canon 5D Mark II inside of the cage without using the included extension adapters. With the extension adapters installed, the GearBox can support the Canon DSLR plus a Quick Release Adapter, or larger camera bodies.
Stopped by the Shape booth over at #NAB2013 to check out some of their new products. Kirk Neff shows off a very compact rig designed for DSLR video with a half cage, top handle, two front handles, and adjustable shoulder stock (chest pad).
Shape was also introducing a basic top handle for the BMCC along with a new rail mounted friction based EVF bracket that can be adjusted very quickly to position your EVF Loupe (many will prefer this over friction arms). For more information on Shape products check out the website at https://shapewlb.com.

Jonas writes in and shares a link to a discounted 5D Mark III through an organized Group Buy via eBay. To be honest, I wasn't aware that these Group Buy Deals even existed, mainly because it's only available in AU.
This is not available for USA residents (and other countries), but it's worth taking a look if you qualify as there seems to be a number of these types of deals listed. Check out a Canon 5D Mark III posted up recently as part of the GroupBuy deal via ebay.com.au (Click Here).
Here's an overview of the new F&V K4000 LED Studio Light Panels along with a few samples at the end showing how it compares to a common ARRI 650W Fresnel. The unique offset filter mount on the K4000s allow better diffusion and eliminates multi-shadow issues that are common with LED lights.

Description: A lightweight and portable studio solution, integrating our newest technology in synchronous lighting, expandability, and power LEDs. The perfect mobile studio lighting solution. Available in daylight and bi-color models. The new K4000 Daylight Studio Panel light sports 400 pure color power LEDs, offering 2860 Lux @ 1 meter in a self-contained 1'x1' unit. Carefully selected LEDs are put through multiple tests and evaluations to ensure perfect color balance and diode matching. This offers an absolute pure color consistency between LEDs, and a clean daylight calibrated color (5600K).
The K4000 LED panels are also available in Bi-Color for adjustable color temperature from 3200K-5600K. Individually these lights are more expensive than the common 600, 900, or 1200 LED panels but the 3 Piece Studio Kit (found here) that includes a nice travel bag brings them down to about $330/each. Additional Specs, Highlights, and Package Contents for the K4000 LED Video lights can be found at https://fvlighting.com (click here to visit)

I wasn't a big fan of the Canon EOS-M mirror-less mainly because it was announced at an $800 dollar price tag. It almost seemed like they were trying to target the more serious photographer. With all the other mirrorless systems available on the market (Sony/Olympus/Panasonic/Fuji/Samsung), the $800 dollar price tag was just too hard to swallow. Needless to say it didn't succeed, and recently there's been a price drop down to $599 which I think is still a bit too high.
Today, there's a daily deal which lists the EOS-M for just $399 with an 18-55mm STM IS Lens (that's cheaper than a Canon point and shoot camera). $399 is probably the price they should have first released this at, and you can check out that current deal via eBay (Click Here)
This year at NAB 2013, Manfrotto announced the new MVH500AH Video Fluid Head which sits as an entry level product in their Bridging Technology line of Video heads. The new video head may be the most affordable Video Head that uses actual ball bearings and fluid cartridges to provide smooth pan / tilt operation. One small change i'm excited to see is the ability to drop in the quick release plate (instead of sliding). This makes it easier when working with video rigs instead of leaving additional clearance required for sliding quick release systems.
The MVH500A & MVH500AH Video Fluid Heads will be available separately (Head Only), bundled with a 755 Half Ball Video Tripod (carbon fiber or aluminum), and even available with a Fluid Foot Video Monopod (replacing the popular 561BHDV). Check out the new MVH500AH Video Fluid Head following the links below.
