Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens

sony 28-135 full frame e mount

Sony has announced it's latest Full-Frame FE Mount Lens, and with this range of 28-135mm this could be a great all around lens for video use. Although it's widest aperture is F/4 I don't think Sony A7s owners will have any issues with losing a few stops of light, if you can get over the price of $2499.

Sony FE PZ 28-135mm Lens
Designed for the demands of 4K and HD movie-making and high-resolution still photography, this weather-sealed full-frame E-mount lens features variable-speed zoom, powered by a Super Sonic wave Motor, along with quiet linear motor-driven autofocus and iris adjustment. Lens breathing during focusing and axial displacement while zooming has been reduced and there are independent control rings for zoom, focus, and iris, engineered to provide the right amount of torque for responsive operation. Optical SteadyShot image stabilization controls blur, while aspherical and ED lens elements, along with a Nano AR coating, provide sharp imaging devoid of flare and ghosting.

If the glass is as good as they claim, $2500 is a steal. I like shooting around f4 anyway.

If it gets reviewed well and performs well when I rent it, buying this lens is a no-brainer for me.

@Doc Hutch - Thanks, that's awesome to hear. My wife was in Atlanta the same time that was going on to visit a friend, I should have gone too!

@Emm one thing I thought I should tell you is a few weeks ago I attended DragonCon convention in Atlanta. At most all of the filmmaking seminars at DragonCon the speakers listed your site as a go to site for filmmakers. You have a huge following across the country. Good job and thank you so much for all you do to help filmmakers.

Let me know if you are ever speaking on the east coast.

Haha I will agree with that Emm. As a film student the FS7 isn't even an option. What I would love to see is Sigma release an E-mount version of their 18-35mm f/1.8 lens.
@Emm have you ever used the Sony LA-EA4 alpha to e-mount adapter. I am always seeing great deals online for alpha lenses but can find very little info about using this adapter for video use.
