One Day GoPro HD Sale

One day only, Amazon has a nice price drop on the 1080p GoProHD Waterproof Camera. Although this is the original (not Hero 2), this version should have a firmware update allowing it to use the same Wi-Fi Remote Control via smartphone, tablet & computer as the Hero 2. Recent firmware on this Hero already allows it to use the LCD BacPac, Battery BacPac, and also compatible in the GoPro 3D video housing. The Hero 2 runs for about $300 dollars right now, so If you're looking to add more camera angles in your shots, now is the time to stock up on the original HD Hero POV camera. Mmm I call bull on the $180 price tag

The price is dictated by go pro and $299 is the lowest anywhere for a go pro 2

Just checked again, you're right. It will work with the remote, but only the Hero2 will do live streaming. It can stream while recording, which we will be using on the trackdays and during the racing season.

@DavidN4 - The Hero 2 has some new improvements, but the remote should still work on the original model as per GoPro with a firmware update.

The Hero2 is a big improvement over the original Hero. I sold my Hero and got the Hero2, and it's worth it. Low light level performance is much better.
There is more to the Hero2 than just the firmware. To use the remote control that is supposed to come out in Feb, you will need the Hero2.

The suction cup holds quite well. We have had them on cars at close to 200mph without issue. On the other hand, if you don't clean the surface, or if it has irregularities, it can fall off at 10 mph. Just make certain that you tether it.

  5. @ Tyler, I don't think there is a specific speed limit. Just make sure you clean the surface before attaching the gopro to your car. For extra safety I usually attach a line to the gopro and put the other end through my car window. That way if it falls it won't hit the ground.

    Thanks for the response Emm.

  6. I was fortunate enough to pick up the GoPro Hero 2 Motorsports for $180.00 up here in Canada! It was an amazing deal and sold out instantly.

I can't wait to try it out. I am curious though, how fast can I drive with it on my car?

@Chris cella - GoPro will be releasing a wireless BacPac (attaches to the back like the LCD BacPac). This new Wifi BacPac will connect through an app on another device to stream video and for you to control the camera. It's not yet released, but they say when it is, a firmware update on the older version will make it compatible. Currently the only BacPacs they have available are the LCD (adds an LCD screen for you) and an external battery for longer run times: GoPro Camera BacPac

Here's a review on what the LCD BacpPac offers

  8. When you say it should have an update do you mean the update is currently available or it will be soon? Also, to use an iPhone with the gopro do you need the eyefi card or will a regular memory card suffice?

    Thanks Emm!
