Speaking of DSLR follow focus systems, here's another new one. Looks like the same RJ follow focus with a few upgrades adding in some hard stops. [Thanks Jacob]. This version is also reversible, but the mostly plastic quality will not stand a chance against the new Gini iFocus FF on the market. The hard stops is a nice added feature, but the asking price of this new version RJ follow focus will have it collecting dust on the store shelves. It's about $160 more than the original RJ Follow Focus. Until they do something about pricing, I would definitely skip the 'A/B hard stop' pony trick and check to see if you can get a better deal with the latest Gini version first.
You can check to see what the prices are on these new FFs (click here).

Post author@Austin M - There's a lot of people who bought this 'RJ' Follow focus and I haven't heard too many complaints. For the price, it's not too bad, but if you can get a Gini for under $200, I would go with the Gini. It doesn't have the hard stops though.

Hey Emm, is this the same follow focus, just by a different name and a cheaper price?

If not, is there a follow focus you recommend thats under $200?
thanks!

Hey Emm, I bought the RJ a few months back and I would like to pick up a crank for it. Are there any reasonably priced ones? I don't really want to spend the money to get something brand name.

It looks like it has the same removable gear that seems to be the source of backlash in the original. The two prongs that connect the gear are weak and flexible. If you pinch them together there is slightly less backlash, but with use they flex open. if the prongs just fit snugly and were stronger this thing would be great. As is I'm probably going to sell it and save for something worthwhile.
