The FotoPro Transformer flexible tripod (released sometime last year), has optional replaceable feet that can be swapped out from standard rubber balls, to suction cups, to magnetic, and also spiked feet. The different options screw in through standard '1/4-20 threaded inserts'. This particular flexible tripod is good for cameras weighing under 3lbs (lightweight cameras), or small accessories like lights and flashes.

Having standard threaded inserts makes it very easy, if you decide to mount something else. You'll start seeing these tripods pop up in various colors with different package options, on both eBay (click here)

Personally, I wouldn't mount my 7D on anything without rachett straps anyway. I'm pretty happy with my $90 car mount. Not really digging this, too much of a novelty feel and look. Probably would work better with one of those Canon/Sony cameras with HDMI video capture.

And remember.. always use a safety tether.

Post author@Dave - On the packaging it's not recommended to use on moving vehicles, we did it anyways. The suction is pretty strong and again designed to work with cameras under 3 lbs.
Dave
lol I love how they show it on a moving vehicle and say "Not recommended for moving vehicles".
Anyone wanna clarify how safe it actually is on a moving vehicle?

Could someone confirm that this tripod has adjustable joints which can be tightened with a screw driver so that they can be lock?
Thanks

@Ben
The cups I posted the two links to are rated at 160 and 220 lbs... you might only use 10% of that. But it would take those kind of ratings for me to trust using them... better to overbuild in a situation like this, I think. And I'd still design in a safety net (so to speak).
But I haven't bought them yet so I haven't tried it... but obviously Emm has... I think what he means by too much weight is that you might damage or destroy the thing they're mounted on, not the cups and camera rig itself... I mean, they're listed as auto-body "dent pullers" among other things 😉
Emm
Post author@Ben - That's way too much weight.
Ben
Has anyone tried using two of these to mount a slider to a car, or two of the regular ones for an easy way to balance a konova slider? Is that too much weight?

Ha ha, nice, Emm. Yeah I think I'll grab some from here at Princess next time they're on sale... not that they're a bad price to begin with. Heck, if they don't work, PA has the best return policy on the planet... I could probably take them back a year after purchasing and full of drill holes 😉

Post author@SkunkWorks - Something I tested 5 months ago (never posted it) on those suction cups. Link: https://vimeo.com/24529545 pw: suction-mount
They work really really well, but just need a flat surface. Some areas of a car are slightly rounded. If you can find a flat spot, these things lock in very tight. It held up my 60D (interior shot). Outside shot, I would mount my Sony HX9V. The suction mounts can be found here: httpss://cheesycam.com/diy-double-and-quad-suction-camera-car-mounts/

Funny you posted this today... I was just looking at these yesterday for a possible DIY...
