The Canon C300 needs no introduction. Initially the $20K number came up somewhere during it's announcement, and it appeared Canon failed to bring a solid camera to market at a decent price point. Now product pages are showing the number is officially just under $16K (body only). [Thanks Omar].
Sure it's not a 4K camera, but hard working fellows can throw a camera like this in to their current workflow and get projects done without fuss. Compared to all the equipment you'll require to get started with a basic RED Scarlet package, that price is a little easier on the eyes. Surprisingly it's the same price whether you choose the EF or PL mount C300. B&HPhotovideo.com is already taking pre-orders following the link (click here).

BTW, there's also two Canon CN-E Lenses available in both EF and PL mounts. A 14.5-60mm and 30-300mm lens that will set you back over $42,000 dollars (each). Here's the good news though, if you opt in for that EF mount, it might just work on your Canon T2i too..(joking guys...joking)

Most people just rent equipment when you get into this price bracket, don't they?
@scottrellwi - You can always just use plain EF lenses, even the 18-55mm kit lens..
My jaw dropped when I saw the price of the lenses. So now it is not a $16,000 camera, but a $60,000 camera. Am I missing something? Will most people just rent it like a RED?
@Serge - Is there such a thing as a reverse mortgage or interest only loan for these lenses? LOL.
I'm thinking of getting this for a commercial series I'm going to be working on later this year.
Good lenses are always expensive though.
I'll be renting primes.
Price:$44,650.00 for the lens gives me heart burn!
love this cam....well, not so crazy about the 1080i60 but its a start, right?
i'm gonna hold my breath for a 7dmkII with 60fps at 1080p....but still, love the camera, even though its out of my price range.
@omar - You going to pick one up? I'd love to shoot with it, but damn how do you get a B cam to mix in? LOL. Does that mean I need to spend $32K for my two shot??
This camera is awesome!
