At some point in time you may find yourself on a project that will require you to send a feed to a remote monitor for others to view. Perhaps you have a client that needs to provide input about your camera settings, lens choice, framing, or movement. Or maybe you have an assistant to help with a wireless follow focus. And when your camera can't be tethered with a cable, eventually you may find a need for a kit to transmit video wirelessly. So here's a look at the CAME-TV 100m Wireless HD Video Kit.

There are systems designed for the home that you can use for a DIY solution, but often this means shorter range and lots of latency. Home kits are usually bulkier, will require you to be innovative about your battery solutions, and you'll need to find a way to mount it to your camera and monitor. Another reason you have to be careful about DIY kits is compatibility with frame rates. The Panasonic GH3 outputs a weird interlaced signal, the Canon 5DM3 and Sony cameras when set to 24p actually output 23.98. The GH4 on the other hand can output 24p, 23.98, and then you have cameras that can output 59.94p. There are a good number of Monitors that can't display these frame rates, and wireless HD Video kits are the same.

If these are reasons that would deter you from DIY home kits, the CAME-TV 100m Wireless Video Kit is clean and simple, easy to operate, minimal parts, and works great for transmitting up to 300 feet+ (depending on conditions). I have tested 1080/24p Cinema mode from the GH4 as well as NTSC 23.98, and 59.94 with no issues.

    @Nelson - You just missed the deal. They just had it for $880, far less than Triton at that price.

    @Patrick - Yes I don't think the A7s draws very much power so you can use a smaller cable. I just don't know anything off the shelf, so you would have to make it yourself.

    @emm got another semi-relavant question.

    Came-tv Single + Switronix PB70 a7s kit mounted on bottom + a7s.

    So the a7s convertor cable can be a little taut. Any suggestions on a cable that I can solder that won't be so thick and give a lot of pull.

    Maybe a coiled one?

    The bottom right (plus middle) of the cage has that 1/2inch anti-twist piece of metal that keeps the camera from moving. The mount that is on my XL booster prevents the speedster from being attached because of that part of the cage. Unless your GH4 cage is different, there's no way I can put the speedbooster on the cam while it's in the cage.

    @jp: I doubt it's a copy. i have the triton, and i'm pretty sure these are all coming out of the same factories. Paralinx has always said that their magic comes from more advanced firmware and of course customer service.

    Wow, this is an exact copy of Paralinx Triton. CameTV is getting better at cloning other products day by day. I wonder how this performs to the original compared side by side.

    @Sean - I didn't do anything special. It's always worked. Where did you get the idea that it didn't work?

    Em, what kind of magic did you perform to get the metabones adapter to attach to the gh4 while in the came-tv cage? I didn't think this was at all possible.

    You are right of course - if you need pro, you need to pay up. But if you can avoid it, you can save serious coin by getting one of those Nyrius things. Just too much $ for my poor pockets.
