Here's a YouTube video from victorbart shot at the Atomos IBC event booth showing off the Sony A7s with Shogun 4K recorder. While the Shogun itself has already been in the news, Atomos is also showing a Powerstation Solution that can power both the Shogun and a camera body. That's definitely going to be required with the small battery size of the Sony A7s. This looks like a clean solution that hopefully will be available for other camera bodies as well.

Post author@T22 - At first glance right out of the camera it could be hard to tell. It is mainly if you plan to make changes to the image where it really matters. The higher quality captured by the Shogun will allow to tweak exposures and colors and retain better quality than if you did the same from the internal recording.

Is there any image quality benefit to using the Atomos Shogun with the Panasonic GH4 vs recording 4K internally?

Hmmm...I like the fact that I can use any 2.5 hard drive, unlike odessy covergent.

The size of this together is ridiculous. It is definitely more for the indie filmmaker than a run-and-gun enthusiast. I rather wait for the next generation when Sony should be able to record 4k, H.265, and 4:2:2 internally.

I am about ready to give up on waiting for the Shogun. I think I am going to get the Ninja Blade and a 4K scaler so I can get super clean 1080 into the Ninja Blade.
