Here's an update on that new Varavon slider ' Slidecam Lite ' that is currently on Sale
. The video looks good, but I don't think it's going to be as robust as a larger Konova slider, but for those who want something extra small and light for traveling and packing, there's nothing like it in the current price range. I ordered mine yesterday, and hoping to have it in before I go on vacation. Don't worry i'll still be blogging when on vacation. I've some cool toys to show when I get to my location. Yes, Jordan, this is a huge issue. The rails are starting to rust and it causes a bit of wobbliness due to the rust.

Has anyone else noticed some significant rusting on the slider metal? I've babied the system and kept it out of the elements, but the whole thing is starting to rust over!

I ordered mine on the 19th, but have yet to receive tracking or notifacation of shipment. Have you gotten either of those. The seller said that they would ship out yesterday but still no sign.

I have ordered it because I was really satisfied with larger version of Slidecam. I attended NAB show last year and compared Slidecam with other sliders. I strongly believe that Slidecam light would be awesome!

I received my K3 2ft Konova yesterday and in the process of motorising it. I would probably have gone with the Varavon if Konova didn't have the 2ft version. I just needed something I can use when traveling.
It is very solid. Operating manually with a 701 head and mounted on a CX190 tripod I was able to get good slides with it. Really happy knowing that I can take it with me on most shoots.

Post author@J Toha - A 200mm lens is quite a distance and will exaggerate any micro vibration movement. If it were a 9 kg camera with a wide 14mm lens, it would look very smooth. I think it can hold up the weight it claims, but the lens they chose is not ideal for that type of slider. Even a Manfrotto 701HDV fluid head sitting static on a tripod could easily show some movement with a 200mm lens attached.

They mentioned max load to be 9 kg, but optimized for 3-6 kg load.
A DSLR like 7D, 200mm lens and a fluid head should still be under 7kg. Shouldn't shake at all if it's as robust as claimed.
I agree it should be used on smaller cameras though, and aim for a safer max load of 5 kg.

Post author@sKiZZ - I don't think it will have enough of a platform to prevent it from tipping over. The legs might allow you to fold it flat though.

Post author@sKiZZ - These sliders have adjustable friction on the bearings. You can adjust them pretty tight, they almost lock up. Most people don't know how to adjust it properly. The first time I did, it took me about 20 minutes to figure out exactly how to do it properly. But yes, if you need friction, you can add friction to these sliders.

Flimsy? I actually think that sometimes, sliders are too smooth, and when we push it with our own hands, we're the ones shaky, and thus causing such "flimsy", or shaky shots... Anyone felt that before?
I'm using a Glidetrack, and it's not as smooth, surely, but with that friction, it kinda "holds" to be a more steady shot...
Thoughts, anyone?

I ordered it as well, needed something lightweight. When I ordered the Konova K3, they sent me the K5 instead which is great but I need a smaller traveling version.
If anyone in the UK is interested for a brand new (never used outdoors, customs already paid) K5 let me know, you can have it for 240£ (normal price is 299+customs).

Semi-off topic: I just got the Cinevate Atlas 10 FLT. I currently have their version 2 all-terrain legs. It can handle more weight than V1. But it is very slow to change leg angle. They said they will upgrade their all-terrain legs to be stronger (version 3) soon.

Post author@Paolo - I think they are trying to do too much with it, especially putting on a big head, dslr, and 200mm lens. I don't even use a 200mm on my larger Konova. I think they should have just shown this will smaller GH2 / NEX / Point and Shoot cameras.

It looks flimsy.
You can see it shake as they slide the camera. Not sure if it's worth it especially compared to Konova's for $100 more.
