Due to the tiny form factor of the BlackMagic Design Micro Cinema Camera, you're probably going to run into many small issues. One problem is if your lens is too big, the camera may not sit properly on a QR plate or tripod. So you'll have to raise it up.

Another problem is if you're using a basic rail plate, the lens may not center to a Mattebox. So if you're planning to build out a rig, you may want to use a base with adjustable height rod clamp. Something like this 15mm Baseplate (below) is a good start for building out your Blackmagic Design Micro Cinema Cameras.

I recently had the chance to play with a BlackMagic Design Micro Cinema Camera over at the WPPI show about a week ago. The dynamic range looked better than from the Pocket Cinema Camera, but the addition of 60fps and now powered by Canon LP-E6 batteries is what really sold me. You'll definitely need some type of screen to work with it, but I already own the BlackMagic Design Video Assist (BMVA). Here's a couple of images showing the serial cable connections you can use to control this camera remotely (i.e. Drone use) and also the Camera settings available from the Menu of the new BMMCC.

I'm one of those guys who pre-ordered a BlackMagic Design Micro Cinema Camera the moment they were announced at NAB. But after almost a year of waiting, my pre-order still hasn't confirmed to ship. But here's really good news. If you want your Micro Cinema Camera ASAP, I just got confirmation that the DVEStore may have at least a few dozen available today by Tuesday [03.24.16]. They confirmed that they have already set aside for me to ship as soon as it arrives at their warehouse (overnight shipping!). I expect by Wednesday afternoon at the latest.

So if I you're looking to get one ASAP, i'd place your order at DVEStore (here), and then maybe cancel your previous. Their website may still say 'pre-order' but they confirmed their shipment should arrive on Tuesday. I expect these will go fast, and it would suck to have to wait even longer. Hurry and good luck!

And if you're looking for a Cage with Top Handle, CAME-TV has this one available.

I'm hoping this new BlackMagic Design Micro Cinema Camera starts shipping before NAB. It's only a 1080p camera similar to the BMPCC, but seems to have more dynamic range and can now shoot up to 60p! [not to be confused with the Micro Studio Camera]

Here's some early footage from Simon Shasha shot on the (not yet released) BlackMagic Design Micro Cinema Camera. I remember putting my pre-order in the day it was announced at NAB2015 so seeing some footage feels like it should be out any day now. [Thanks Simon]

As much as everyone loves the original BlackMagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera #BMPCC, it does lack high frame rate options. That's what makes this new Micro Cinema Camera so exciting is that it now offers up to 60fps in 1080HD. The design has shifted so that it can be used more like an 'Action Camera' strapped to a Drone, or attached to the side of a Helmet.

Image wise you still get your 13 Stops of Dynamic Range, RAW, ProRes Recording. It's not exactly the same sensor as the previous BMPCC as it offers a Global Shutter (in some settings), and at least now it's powered by a Canon LP-E6 battery. I really hated the old Nikon battery in the BMPCC.

Simon also shares some images from the setup he used which included a BlackMagic Design Micro Cinema Camera Cage from CAME-TV (found here), along with a few stabilizer shots from a CAME-TV SINGLE Gimbal (found here).
