Derek Bruce writes in and shares a find on the Swivi LCD. Listings have been discounted for the next 48 hours as a New Years promotion. [Thanks Derek!] Not sure what a 'Swivi' is? Check out a review posted here: http://cheesycam.com/swivi-5-6-external-lcd-review/
I can't remember exactly, but I want to say that MSRP price was listed around $350 US, and is on a 48 hour New Years promotion for just $250. That's a nice $100 dollar discount for this weekend only. The Swivi LCD has been discounted on both Amazon (click here)

and via eBay (click here).

I have just had one delivered this morning but no matter what I do it will not even switch on. The battery is fully charged. Anyone had this problem?
Jerry
I now know what it meant buy cheap, spent twice. Yep, I'm getting the Marshall or the DP6 monitor.
Jamieson
I've had trouble with mine as well. Sometimes powers on, sometimes doesnt. And the last time I tried, the area around the hdmi port of my T3I smelled of battery acid.
Jerry
@Timothy- please see my pain in this post! httpss://cheesycam.com/look-what-the-cat-dragged-in-swivi/
I hope you can do something about it as soon as possible. I do like your product and now understand the price drop. But now I lost two LP-E6 batteries, making me scramble for LP-E6 batteries as I have an event tomorrow, a full day. now how do you suppose I cover an event with one LP-E6 batteries?
chrismo
My swivi doesnt do that. The screen image automatically flips when the screen is rotated fully.
I do have two complaints though -
The screen goes black for 5+ seconds or so after every photo. (Is there a fix for this? I can't imagine people can use it like that.)
When viewing at an angle, the colour shifts much more than the camera's viewfinder does.

Received mine today. Was lucky enough to purchase it during the 48 hour special price. first impressions were good. Plastic though seems abit brittle. dont think it will last on a set very long being banged around. But overall picture quality is very good, very novel design. Quite like the Peaking function and full screen options. One thing that frustrates me was when the LCD is flipped in and LCD facing out towards the camera operator, the image is flipped. Demonstrated here https://dl.dropbox.com/u/19790182/swivi.JPG There is no flip function in the menus, which means you'd have to flip the screen out everytime you want to use it, which is very very annoying. I have emailed the Ebay Seller, awaiting reply. If its not resolved, this single issue would frustrate me enough ask for refund.

I just got mine an hour ago. I'm fairly pleased with it on my T3i with grip. The 6 AAA battery adapter thing is kind of loose though, and if I wiggle that adapter at all - it turns the swivi off. Also that AAA batteries dont go in as expected. Look versy closely at the where the batteries go in, and you'll see the + or - beside each battery slot. All the negative sides of the AAA batteries are NOT supposed to match up with the spring side of the adaptor.
First impressions... It's definitely easier to find focus with this. And when I have focus - I know it, and dont feel the need to screw around to doublecheck. The peaking is nice too but havent payed with it much yet. I don't find it too awkward to walk around with. It's bulkier - but manageable.

mad
couldn't get this thing to work. put 6 AAA batteries in and eventually i heard a pop sound. battery acid oozing? garbo

Hi Timothy!
Have you perhaps consider another sale? Especially for Cheesycam readers? (hint, hint :D) here are some reasons I think could help you guys to get your name out there:
1. The sale happened at the end of the year, when most people were either out celebrating that evening or slept late from being hung over.
2. The quantity of the sale was limited, by the time people got a wind of the sale, I assume most of the stocks were cleaned out.
3. I understand the reason behind limiting the quantities, but a quick google search for Swivi LCD will show that Swivi does not have much saturation in the market yet.
The product does looks very promising, I would LOVE to get my hand on one as well, but not at the current price of $330. I believe if you guys are willing to offer us a bit longer sale period pricing, not only will you guys sell more units, it is also likely that you guys will have more reviews of the product out there, which helps you guys to get your name out there, and you guys will have a clear view of the areas of the product that could be further refined.

@Derek
Hi, Dear Derek
My name is Timothy, I am the inventor of Swivi, I am very sorry about your bad experience with our customer service. I will host a meeting tomorrow morning to investigate this case and issue refund to you ASAP. We will never let such thing happen again in the future.
Once again, thanks for your support to us and sorry about your experience, we will try our best to make it right and help you out on this.
Regards
Timothy

Ugh, I have had nothing but a bad experience with the people at Swivi.
I purchased mine at the beginning of December, but after using it I realized that it just wasn't the right monitor for me, so I returned it.
The monitor was delivered on 12/17 and I was told that they would have to inspect it before they'd refund, which was understandable. But here we are 2 weeks later and still no refund.
I've emailed multiple times and keep getting the run around. First they claim that it wasn't delivered to them, but to the post office. Then it was the "inspection", then I received an email during business hours on the 23rd saying that they would take care of me on Jan 3 (today). Unfortunately, I have not heard a word from them and had to send yet another email.
I'm hoping that this is resolved soon, I could really use that money back as well as the time it's taken me to send them 7-8 email.
Buyer beware.

Ugh, can't believe I missed this... -___-
Tim
has anyone receive the item from the seller? mine is not shipped yet, and the seller haven't answer my question I asked few days ago...
HD Cam Team
@Emm,
Great, very much appreciated! That should work!
Thanks a lot once again.
Emm
Post author@HD Cam Team - LOL, you're right sorry. They do have them. You might be able to find cheaper ones, but it would be like this: https://goo.gl/52q6k
HD Cam Team
@Emm,
Oh, the problem is that the coupler is mini-HDMI female at both ends! (at least the one I received) 🙁
Emm
Post author@HD Cam Team - Once you have the female to female mini HDMI coupler, you should just be able to use standard mini HDMI to HDMI cable like this: https://goo.gl/bCj0p
HD Cam Team
@Emm,
Thanks for your reply. I got one of those adapters too (thanks to you :)).
But what specific cable (or solution) do you use to get the Swivi far away from the camera? (I didn't find any mini HDMI male to mini HDMI male cable... Any link at Amazon or somwhere else?).
Thanks a lot in advance!
Emm
Post author@HD Cam Team - I think they sold out, but yes I ordered an adapter that literally just came in. It took several weeks. I haven't tried it yet, but it's a female female mini HDMI coupler. I might try it today.
HD Cam Team
Hi Emm,
This is a great deal.
Did you find some cable/adapter (mini HDMI - HDMI - mini HDMI, etc) to use the Swivi as a remote external monitor?
I still couldn't find any adapter nor cable that allows to use it as an external monitor (either using a normal HDMI cable or whatever) 🙁
Thanks a lot in advance.
Tony
Hopefully in short time this will be the normal price. Given it's complaints and limited usage (big size) I'm with others its should be $200-250 normally.
J Hanna
It just seems clunky. Like there's too much stuff there. I don't know. I like the swivel on my 60d but this seems overkill. looking at a DP4 now. they should do a new years sale!!!
Barry Sanders
I'm really on the fence about this. Looking at the comments on the Youtube video it looks like the monitor 1/4" thread screw becomes flipping the screen around, the speakers may stop working correctly, and there's no way to upgrade firmware on this.
I'm not sure if they are dumping stock for a newer version or if this just happens to be a sale. This came out recently, so I hope they'll accommodate people that just bought it.

i'd like to get one but does the mount system conflict with 15mm rail system? i feel like my d-focus / d-zoom wont reach..
anyone tested this?
thanks
getem
I was about to pull the trigger till I realized that I could use that money right now on something better.
A nice piece of Vintage glass or a Go Pro 2 which would help me a lot more. Personally I think this monitor looks cheap and sloppy.
The most I would pay is about $200 for this.

Thanks again CheesyCam. Just bought one of these babies. For those interested, look at the bottom of the eBay ad for a couple of videos. That's what convinced me. I'll be mounting this to my 7D. BTY, thanks to Barry for mentioning the Amazon gift card. My brother gave me one for $100. Also, saved money buying it on Amazon instead of eBay. $15 shipping plus taxes.

Emm,
Still waiting for your review. Do you think it is a good unit? The bottom looks unfinished, but who cares if it works good. How good is the screen? Better than using a lilliput monitor?
Also, did you notice the image on Amazon showing the unit mounted to the hotshoe?
Thanks again, good work.
Barry Sanders
Hmmm. I might have to put an Amazon gift card I got to good use. Will this also mount correctly to a T2i?

I just ordered on the 28th. I just emailed them to see if they will give me the sale price. I haven't received yet. I hope they honor the sale price.
Rob S.
Oh, crud! Why did I already blow all of my holiday bonus money already? I'd be all over this.
Rabby
Tempting, but I will wait. Just recently bought the full Pro Rig Package from Lanparte. Came with everything from the new Handle, MatteBox FF, LCD, V mount LCD, carrying case, all of it, looks really well designed and solid, bit Heavy. I will be doing a full video review.
