Sony has released two new E-Mount Full Frame Mirrorless Cameras. If you didn't catch that, it's Full Frame in a compact Interchangeable Lens camera body. With uncompressed HDMI output, HD Video shooters might find this interesting, but will probably appeal mainly to still photographers.
The new Sony Alpha A7 & A7R E-Mount Full Frame Cameras share many similar features between each other, but there are some obvious differences including new high-speed BIONZ® X image processor found only in the A7R. A few more Sony A7 / A7R brief specs are listed below, with more info following the jump to the product page.

I'm a video shooter that has a client insistent on using 60i. No other camera I'm aware of bothers with that format. Sony seems to be sticking with it because of their legacy with the standard.
Also, a lot of the locations in end up in for said client are in darker settings.
This seems to hit a nice sweet spot for my needs. A full frame sensor for low light shooting? 60i? Sounds good.
The only thing I'm concerned about is the video codec/compression. While I COULD record uncompressed out, for my mobility needs that's not a great option.
My eye is on this gear though. I have a pilgrimage documentary coming up early next year, this might be a nice tool for that excursion.

Post author@nathan - Interesting quote from the article "As is though, while the Sony A7 image is nice, I’ll stick to the Panasonic GH3 when I need a small camera."..... #GH3 still rocks and it's cheaper.

Video looks soft and crappy. according to httpss://www.thecamerastore.com/blog/2013/10/15/sony-a7-a7r-hands-field-test
The new d5300 is going to kill this camera in video quality and it has 60p 1080.

@ Ben Ericson
Actually the Sony A99 was the first with articulating screen.

Post author@rishio - They are both capable of great video, but the A7 has an anti-aliasing filter, the A7R does not. The A7R is all magnesium while the A7 has some plastic to it.

I'm ordering the A7R or A7 but how do you know which one is better for video?
Emm
Post author@John - The video is not crippled by overlays. I'm not sure what they output, but it could just be 8-bit 4:2:0. You'll need to get an external recorder like an Atomos Ninja. Of course if you don't need the Full Frame, the BMPC already records 10-bit 4:2:2 internally to an SDHC card, and will have the option of RAW very soon. Not to mention it's about half the price.
John
I am really hoping the video out isn't crippled or full of overlays.
I am also hoping manufacturers are going to create accessories for this (specifically a low profile cage with a bracket to mount a Metabones adapter).
I am confident there will be a lot of awesome apps to download for this camera (Sony released the APK awhile back).
Emm
Post author@Andrew - RAW as in photos, I don't think they mean video.
Emm
Post author@Kosh - My guess is 4:2:0 otherwise I think they would really advertise it.

Somebody knows is it 4-2-2 or 4-2-0 output signal

"Full Frame 36.3 MP resolution with 14-bit RAW recording" what?
