The LUMIX GH4 builds on the legacy of the renowned LUMIX GH3s image quality and world class video capabilities. Now supporting 4K quality video, the Panasonic LUMIX GH4 allows photographers and cinematographers to explore above and beyond with in camera creative options and astonishing focus control that sets the new standard for mirrorless hybrid photography.
When combined with one of the many LUMIX G Lenses or movie industry PL mount* cine lenses, the LUMIX GH4 provides the ultimate platform for video. Photographers will enjoy the controls and image quality expected of a professional grade main system camera for still and hybrid photography. Both will enjoy the durability and lightweight portability that a modern mirrorless DSLM digital camera offers over legacy DSLR systems.
The LUMIX YAGH interface unit mounts to the bottom of the Panasonic LUMIX GH4 and provides an added level of system connectivity the GH4 supporting the audio and video needs of professionals.
Front facing screw holes provide expandability for rail systems and added stability for PL mounts. 2 XLR input terminals for audio support and 3G-SDI video output.

Post author@Efex - There's a lot of variables that need to be considered. For instance there are 4K cameras on cell phones, but that doesn't mean it's good 4K. Same with RAW, there are different types that offer more or less information to edit with.

Post author@Rob - I'm curious to shoot in 4K and downres to 1080p to see if things are sharper with more detail as opposed to just shooting 1080p. I don't think i'm ready to deliver 4K content.

There's no point using 4k unless you can shoot RAW (I guess unless you don't shoot as a job). I'd rather pay $1k more for the Black Magic when it comes out.

It's cheaper than Canon 1dc about 10 G and cheaper than BMCC 4K 2G with better ISO + XLR 422 10 bit.
As a fs700 owner, I feel I am so pathetic now, because I have been investing my money into the wrong way.

For you, it might interrupt your creativity, but for me, it will help me to hold focusing nicely.
Plus, metabones is the way you could keep it close to the full frame, what's wrong with that?

Once a 2.0x crop sensor always a 2.0x crop sensor.
I love mirrorless but I returned my panasonic after giving it some thought in regards to the cost of the lenses and how wide of a lens you would need to shoot in a small room and the distortion wide lenses create. I'd rather not spend money on lenses that only score well on crop sensors.
Loved the features of the camera though.

@Rob S - exactly! my biggest gripe with these camera assemblies is that the actual form factor is pretty much non-existent once all the accessories are strapped on. it's like using it was an afterthought. with the "grip" you're looking at something the size of the Tascam DR-60D strapped to the bottom of your camera at all times. my biggest problem with the DR-60D form factor was it made the DSLR clumsy and was really challenging to work with on rails/rods when mounting.
why not just start with a larger body that's more comfortable to use and then cram everything into that? the AF100 body would be a great base for a camera like this... that would absolutely get me to consider. At the moment, I don't have a NEED for 4K, but the higher FPS at 1080 or 2K would be interesting.

96fps at 1080 is certainly nothing to sneeze at though. Especially considering that much pricier Canon models give you no high frame rates at 1080.

This looks amazing. I wonder why they don't incorporate all of this tech into their AF100? Even now, despite being pretty long in the tooth, the AF100 is a pretty nice camera.

I really wish the rumors of 120FPs in 1080 were true. That would have been an amazing feature. I already love the fact that it has a flip out screen and is mirrorless. The 4k is an amazing step forward for such a low price point and that sample video showed that this camera will keep up very well in the pro areas. The studder in the video could have been from the gyros on the quad/octo copter they were flying. I hope it was not from the camera itself. I hope they offer a bundle with a lens as I only have APS-C canon lenses

That video has a lot of stutters in it. My connection and graphics card are fine in handling very high res content. Anyone else notice this?

The footage looks sick! I would love to get more of inside look at settings etc., since it is a MFT sensor of which I am not really a fan of. But for the price point and what it offers it is hard to resist I have to admit, especially with the availability of Metabones converters out there.

Ryan, it's been promised as under $2000 for the body, the interface is supposed to cost about the same. So, for the combo expect around $4000 total which is pretty fantastic considering the capabilities exceed similarly priced interchangeable lens camcorders. I'm optimistic this is the start of a trend where these capabilities including 4k become standard at the $2k - 4k price point.
