DIY BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera Battery Cable

I just wanted to make this video to clear a few things up for those who don't know how to power up the (BMPCC). Any 12V battery will work, in fact they say any 12V-20V battery will fine to power and charge up the BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera.

Just two little pieces you can pick up, requires no soldering, and you're pretty much ready to go to connect your BMPCC to most common 12V batteries. Just to make sure you have the correct polarity (positive in / negative out), here's the cable i'm using below.

And to simplify things even more, here's a barrel tip adapter used for most common DC battery outputs with clear icons representing Negative / Positive, and requires no soldering.

Here's a link to those inexpensive 12V CCTV batteries as well.

These little iPhone clips run under $2 Dollars. Handy for a few things.

    Hello,
I read that external batteries may cause overheating. Is this true? What are the risks of damaging the camera?
    Thanks

This may be a complete noob question, but instead of buying the separate parts to build your own cable, why not use the included output cable with the battery and buy a 2.5mm to 0.7mm adapter for the Pocket?

    Thanks

@Amrdeus - What are you trying to power up? If it's a BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera, I don't think it will be a problem.

@Tyler - There is different capacities in CCTV batteries. Check the listing and they will show you the capacity (i.e 5000mah vs 2500mah).

@joe - The Seaport Digital battery will last the longest, but honestly in my experience, I find it easier to carry several smaller batteries instead of one large heavy battery. I suggest looking into the CCTV batteries to power the BMPCC. It will last many hours and you can purchase several of them.

Hi , thank you for the tips my friend. Can you please tell me which one of those 3 batteries you showed lasts longer? Also more details about the one in the middle ( name, price and where to buy) thanks.

Very very useful! I've been looking for a non-soldering solution for my BMPCC battery solution and you've just given a very solid advice here, Emm. Cheers, mate!

@Ben Ericson - That definitely makes things more simple, but if you have to make another cable in the future, those little barrel adapters are great. Thanks for sharing.
